Recent headlines speak to an alarming increase in the incidence and prevalence of Alzheimer’s and Dementia.  This
Brain Health Awareness talk will focus on the following questions:

·         What is normal cognitive aging?

·         What are the warning signs of cognitive impairment?

·         What can I do to keep my brain healthy?

·         If I am having concerns, what are the components of an evaluation?

·         What are the current therapies for treating these conditions?

·         How can I be proactive in helping to find a cure?

Kathleen Johnson, MSN, is an Adult Nurse Practitioner in Neurology at Georgetown University in the Memory Disorders Program.  Her expertise is in evaluating and treating patients with memory and other cognitive changes.  She was previously a clinician in geriatrics at the Washington DC, VAMC. She is an educator and speaker and serves as the primary clinician on many clinical trials for new therapies for prevention and treatment of mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's dementia.
