What’s the connection between the Obama portraits and the evolution of the labor movement in the US?  Absolutely nothing, except for the fact that Barak Obama’s portrait is back-to-back with the “Sweat of Their Face” exhibit.  So if you are interested in seeing the Obama portraits and having a look at an interesting exhibit that highlights everyday American workers who shaped the country as much as any president, join docent Sheila Lopez at the National Portrait Gallery on March 19 at 1:00 pm.  The labor exhibit features works of artists Ben Shahn, Winslow Homer, Jacob Lawrence, George Bellows and photographers Jacob Riis, Lewis Hine, Yousuf Karsh, Gordon Parks, Dorothea Lange and others.  Meet at the Information Desk at the G Street Entrance to the Portrait Gallery.
