Silent Auction
We have many great items for this year’s Silent Auction. Browse through the different categories, select the items you want to bid on.  At the Gala, go to the Silent Auction room, find the item and put your name and bid amount on the bid sheets. You will be given a warning before the bidding is closed. Top bidders will be announced near the end of the Gala. Then go to the payment station, and pay on your way out (check or credit card).

#1 - Vacation Home in Falmouth, Cape Cod - a week for 6

Value: $2,400 - Availability - mutually agreed upon dates, off season in fall or spring
3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6 comfortably, a/c. Beautiful Cape Cod home with plenty of natural light on a quiet cul-de-sac 300 yd. from a bay beach (Nantucket Sound). Easy access to bikeway, and creek behind the property is home to ducks and flows into the Sound. The rear deck overlooks the backyard and creek. Easy daytrips, including to Martha’s Vineyard.

#2 - Chincoteague Island House - a week for 4

Sleeps 4 - one queen and two twin beds. A/C in bedrooms. Located in center of Chincoteague.
The island is quiet, attractive to families and nature lovers. Screened porch; Wifi and a stash of DVD’s; many restaurants nearby. Attractions include the National Seashore and Nature Reserve on neighboring Assateague Island. Tours availabile.

#3 – Paris Apartment – a week, 2 bedrooms

Classic 2-bedroom French apartment with fully-equipped kitchen, washer-dryer, Internet, Cable TV. Located on a quiet, tree-lined street in the Marais, a historic district in the heart of Paris on the Right Bank. #4 – Historic Potomac Boat Club – Reception for 12

Invite your favorite dozen people for late afternoon light refreshments on the porch at the historic Potomac Boat Club (PBC), built in 1908 next to Key Bridge. Potentially view sunset & beautiful birds: heron, egret, osprey, eagle.

Gretchen Ellsworth will host you and your friends with bubbly and stories of PBC rowers and their boathouse.

Sycamore Island is noted for its 100-year old sycamore trees. The Sycamore Island Club dates back to the 1880’s when steamboats were first used on the C&O Canal. Come for fall foliage and artist studio tour late in October; or during July when there is music in the Berkeley Springs Park every Saturday evening; or just come and relax

#9 – Potomac River Cruise with Authentic French Lunch for 4

#19 – Chinese Cooking Class for 4: Learn to make Dim Sum

This class covers 3 traditional dim sum favorites: Sui Mai (steamed pork & shrimp dumplings), Chun Guen (spring rolls), and Jhun-Chu Nor Mai Gai (steamed rice in lotus leaf). Included: where to buy ingredients, Chinese cooking tips, and all ingredients.
Bring: a cutting board, a cleaver (or large sharp knife). 

#20 – Case of 2016 Chianti: Castello di Gabbiano

Value: $120
This wine is from an historic Italian winery established in 1124, noted for its Chianti. Experts say “the bouquet is reminiscent of ripe plums spiced with pepper and wood nuances.”

#21 – Copy of Obama: The Call of History – signed by the author
Value: $50
The author, Peter Baker, is the Chief White House Correspondent for The New York Times, and covered President Obama’s tenure from its inception. Baker chronicles a period of great hope, tumult, accomplishment and, yes, failure. Baker writes “he [Obama] was a master politician who loathed politics.” But he was the dominant figure of his age, according to Baker.
