We’ve all heard about endangered cafes and restaurants that are hard hit by the pandemic. But what about the Washington area’s rich mix of theaters?
Our third Virtual Celeb Salon - this one with Alexis Hartwick, Director of Education and Administration at Keegan Theatre - and some of her Keegan friends. Keegan is in the heart of Dupont Circle, in the 1700 block of Church Street. It recently finished a top-to-bottom renovation, making it more glitzy as well as more accessible. They’ve often given the Village discounted tickets.

They are one of a handful of DC theaters to own their own building which gives them the luxury of dreaming big for the future even as the pandemic wreaks havoc on many mid-sized theaters, especially. Alexis Hartwick will tell us about ways they’re taking advantage of the shutdown to finish some last parts of their renovation. She’ll tell you what’s next.

But they’re also figuring out logistics for capitalizing on the down time to rethink what they can do with their stunning new space. And how they can do it even with social distancing. “We can do it even with 50 people,” she said. That would make a small, intimate theater even more so.
Alexis will present some of the Keegan actors for “a real theatrical night.” So join us for a night at the theatre!

Instructions on how to access this Salon will be sent the morning of the event.
