Celinda Lake is a leading political strategist who has helped Democrats identify issues that resonate with voters. She and her polling firm, Lake Research Partners, do cutting-edge research on issues including the economy, health care, the environment and education. She’s also the Godmother of electoral strategies to elect women and on framing issues to women voters, making her one of the most influential actors in her field.

Celinda Lake has been tactician and senior advisor to the national Democratic party committees, dozens of Democratic incumbents, and challengers at all levels of the electoral process but especially on researching issues. She has worked for a number of institutions including the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Democratic Governor’s Association (DGA), AFL-CIO, SEIU, CWA, IAFF, Sierra Club, NARAL, Human Rights Campaign, Planned Parenthood, The Next Generation, EMILY’s List, VoteVets Action Fund, and the Kaiser Family Foundation. In 2008, she was Vice President Joe Biden’s pollster.

In terms of framing issues to women voters, American Politics calls Celinda a “super-strategist or, better yet, the Godmother.” She works closely with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She is renowned for her groundbreaking research on single women voters in conjunction with the Voter Participation Center and has helped elect many pioneering female politicians, including former Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland, former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, Houston Mayor Annise Parker, and New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid, the first Hispanic woman to hold that post. She also had helped Carol Moseley-Braun in her historic victory to become the first African-American woman elected to the US Senate.
