Soup Salon Debuts
Soup Salon’s opening act this fall will feature Cathy Solomon, president of Mosaic Theater at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. Live theater plays an important role in creating community and encouraging empathy, she says. And Mosaic tells stories that “explore complex issues in ways that are entertaining, hopeful and thoughtful.” Further, Mosaic leverages its position as a DC cultural institution by collaborating with other organizations—from the Library of Congress to Ford’s Theater to the ACLU—to create opportunities for further reflection and activism. Plus, Mosaic’s intergenerational matinees are communications bridges for post-show discussions among seniors and high schoolers. Before her “third act,” among other posts Cathy was COO of N. Street Village, Washington's largest provider of support services to homeless and low-income women; held a senior position in the Obama Administration; and was a community volunteer in Chicago. Join us for lively discussion, a behind-the-scenes look at Mosaic Theater and more. Contributions of soup or dessert are welcome but it is not necessary to attend. 16 guests are invited.
