Soup Salon showcases the Gilded Age Mansions of Dupont Circle
Come learn about the storied history of our neighborhood. This illustrated presentation will cover a number of the iconic structures -- some gone but most still standing -- built in the late 1800s and early 1900s when Dupont Circle became the fashionable social center of DC, thanks in no small part to the considerable number of equally flamboyant residents.
The presentation is drawn from a course that presentor Ralph Buglass teaches at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at American University titled "Off the Beaten Path in the DC Area." [He is also a frequent speaker for the historical society of neighboring Montgomery County, Maryland on a wide variety of local history topics. ] A lifelong history buff and DC native, he has presented at local and national conferences.
Contributions of soup or dessert are welcome but not required. Please contact hosts via email if you’re bringing something.
